Flint Sparks February 2027 Intensive

Our lives are shaped by our habitual responses to a world that is continually changing, and our shifting ideas about that world create the reality in which we live — what seems possible or impossible, good or not so good, exciting or frightening. Even when things go well, we might still feel a sense of lack, as if something remains unresolved. The heart remains unsettled without a practice to help navigate this territory.

This is the reality of being human.

So we begin to question: What is missing? How does this feel in the body? What is it that doesn’t quite fit? What would be deeply satisfying?

In the Zen tradition, this questioning is not a problem to solve, but the beginning of practice. It is the awakening of bodhi-mind: the deep and sincere wish to understand our lives at their root. This sincere, irresistible desire to know is bodhi-mind: a life oriented toward awakening and lived in relationship with others.

In this 8-day intensive, we will explore what it means to live into this way of being. Together, we will engage meditation, relational inquiry, and embodied awareness, learning how to stay present with ourselves and with one another, moment by moment.

The natural setting of Molokaʻi becomes part of this practice. The rhythms of wind, ocean, and birdsong offer a direct experience of continuity and interdependence, life expressing itself fully, without hesitation. In this way, the environment supports our own exploration of what it means to live by vow.

This retreat is an invitation to practice sincerely, in community, and in connection with the living world, learning how to be here more fully, for our own lives and for the sake of others.

You are warmly invited to join us. The cost of your room, all meals, and transportation to and from the Molokai airport are included in the $3,450 fee.

Dana:

This is a dana-based retreat for the teacher. The basic fee does not include any support for Flint. You may offer whatever you feel called to give in gratitude for the teachings, and we will provide a way to make that offering at the end of the retreat.

“After nearly 50 years of studying and practicing the art of psychotherapy, I have come to realize that Hakomi is unique in an essential way. I no longer think of the Hakomi Way as a particular methodology of psychotherapy which can be compared and contrasted with other methods. I believe Hakomi is actually the way in which any method of psychotherapy is expressed most elegantly. It is the profound embodiment of intimacy, the healing heart of any liberating relationship. It is the foundation of loving presence and the pathway to the transformation of unnecessary suffering.”
